Ike And Tina Turner

 

Musician, band leader, song writer, talent scout and record producer Ike Luster Turner was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on November 5, 1931. He was a talent scout and producer for Sun Records and Modern Records. He and his band recorded the song “Rocket 88” at Sun Studios in 1951, which is now regarded as one of the foundations of rock and roll and rhythm and blues music. He helped B. B. King, Bobby Bland and Howlin’ Wolf establish their careers. In 1960 he formed the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. Ike Turner was alleged to be a Cocaine addict and he died in San Marcus, California on December 12, 2007, allegedly of an overdose.

Anna Mae Bullock (Tina Turner) was born in Brownsville, Tennessee on November 26, 1939 and died on Tuesday 23 May 2023 after a long illness, at her home near Zurich, Switzerland. As well as relaunching her singing career (in 1984) with “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, she also appeared in the films “Tommy” (1975) and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” (1985). A film biography, “What’s Love Got To Do With It” was released in 1993. She is also the subject of a musical, “Tina”. She was one of the best selling recording artistes ever, and has sold more than 100,000,000,000 records.

Anita Wood

  Anita Wood | Copyright Control | 25007 Anita Marie Wood Brewer was born in 1937 and was a girl friend for a time to Elvis Presley.  Her recording of  "Dream Baby"/ “This has happened before” (US Santo 9054, 1964) was issued on Sue WI 328. She sang with Andy Williams, uncredited, on his 1959 hit of “The Hawaiian Wedding Song” and appeared regularly in his television series. Anita Wood died  of pneumonia at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi,  on 29 June 2023, age 85.
