Minnie Mae Epperson King was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on December 30 1942. Minnie was a back up singer at Stax Records, recorded for Peacock Records, and performed with The Ike and Tina Turner Revue, O.V. Wright, Bobby Blue Bland and others.
She gave up music and worked in the civil rights movement, taking part in non-violent demonstrations in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in the 1960’s including sit-in demonstrations and boycotts against segregated local businesses.
Minnie Epperson died in or near Pine Bluff on February 8 2013.
