The line up of the British Walkers, as with so many groups of the time, changed over time. It is understood the personnel on the recording was Bobby Howard (vocal), Jimmy Carter (guitar), Jack Brooks (bass) and Steve Lacey (drums). Other members of the group had included Roy Buchanan (guitar) (1939-1988) and John Hall (guitar). The recording was arranged by jazz musician and stalwart of the Washington DC Jazz scene, Charlie Hampton, who died in 2005 aged 75. His band provided the brass section.
The recording attained cult status in the UK, but flopped in America. The British Walkers founded in 1964 and split up in 1968. A group which included two British musicians was put together for appearances in the UK in the late 1960s. The British Walkers recorded other numbers which can be found on You Tube.
