Singer, song writer, guitarist and pianist Barbara Lynn Ozen, now Mrs Barbara Lynn Cumby, was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 16, 1942. She sang in a church choir as a child. Her playing was influenced by Guitar Slim and Jimmy Reed. She formed an all girl band and they won several talent shows. She was then discovered by producer Huey P. Meaux. With the success of what became her signature song, she began touring extensively. Her song “Oh baby we’ve got a good thing going” was recorded by The Rolling Stones. She continued to record albums through to 2004. In 2018 Barbara Lynn was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship.
