Bobby Nelson Poe was born in Vinitta, Oklahoma on April 13, 1933. In the mid 1950s he formed Bobby Poe and The Poe Kats, a rockabilly music band who were connected with Wanda Jackson and Sun Records. He became a song writer, promoter, manager and publisher, forming Kansoma Music Corp. Sue UK leased their recording “Sh’Mon” by Mr Dynamite for release in the UK. He developed “tip sheets” for disc jockeys (identifying records which were expected to do well) and launched a series of Conventions which were very successful. He retired from producing and promoting country music shows in 2005.
Bobby Poe died in Grove, Oklahoma from a blood clot on January 22, 2011.
