Record company executive and record producer Bobby Robinson was born in Union, South Carolina on April 16, 1917. He is associated particularly with labels including Sue, Enjoy, Fire and Fury Records. He founded Sue Records with partner Juggy Murray. He is shown in his famous New York record shop, which he opened after War Service, in 1946. He was instrumental in helping Ahmet Ertegun set up Atlantic Records. He was also a pioneer of Hip Hop music in the 1970s. Many of the well known records that he produced and recorded were released on UK Sue.
Bobby Robinson died in New York on January 7, 2011, at the ripe old age of 93, after a period of declining health.
