Record producer and song writer Huey Purvis Meaux was born in Wright, Louisiana on March 10, 1929. He is the arranger and producer of “You’ll Lose A Good Thing” by Barbara Lynn, which was released on UK Sue. He continued to be associated with Lynn when she moved to Atlantic Records. He is also associated with the Sir Douglas Quintet and other artistes. He was also a broadcasting personality using the description “The Crazy Cajun”, and owned a number of recording studios and record labels.
In 1996 there was a police raid of his office, in which explicit images of children were found, which resulted in him spending 15 years in prison for a variety of sexual, civil, pornography and drug offences.
Huey P. Meaux died in Winnie, Texas on April 23, 2011. His archive of papers is held by the Briscoe Center for American History at The University of Texas, Austin, Texas.
