Blues and background singer Haywood S. "Little Sonny" Warner was born in Falls Church, Virginia on 30 October 1930. By the 1950s he was singing backing vocals at Atlantic Records and can be heard on "Open the door" by Van Walls. In 1957 he filled in for Lloyd Price at Harlem's Apollo Theatre. His biggest success was saxophonist Big Jay McNeely's "Something on your mind". He performed alongside James Brown, Etta James and B B King.
Sonny Warner died in Falls Church, Virginia on 12 April 2007.
