"The Pleasures" were put together for a specific commercial venture, and were an uncredited male session singer with background vocals provided by The Blossoms, who were Darlene Love, Fanita James, and Gracia Nitzsche.
Music City is the name of the LA record store chain who financed the recording and it appears that Jack Nitzsche put the recording together.
The Pleasures, “Music City”, was released on Catch 100 in February 1963. The Catch label shows different composers: “Music City”, Stephen Howard; “If I had a little money”, Barry Stuart; both sides produced by Jack Nitzsche.
Musician, composer, record producer and arranger Bernard Alfred "Jack" Nitzsche was born in Chicago, Illinois on 22 April 1937. He was discovered by Sonny Bono who hired him as a music copyist. His first successful song was "Needles and Pins". As an arranger he worked closely with Phil Spector and is responsible for arranging hits such as "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". He was also a session musician and can be heard on some recordings of the Rolling Stones.
Among his film composition credits are "The Exorcist" and "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest".
Jack Nitzsche died from cardiac arrest following a stroke in Los Angeles, California on 25 August 2000.
